BirthCraft
I am not currently attending births for new clients.
Please take a look at my other options for pregnancy/birth support below.
Pocket Doula
For those who are wanting access to a doula’s experience, knowledge, and (virtual) presence as if they lived in your pocket! You’ll receive detailed, in-depth support on your journey without having an extra body in your birthing space. We will use our prenatal time together to explore your birth and care options, clarify your values and preferences, practice pregnancy and birth comfort measures, and create a postpartum support plan. I’ll be available virtually for encouragement and comforting words and problem solving during your birth (day or night!). Postpartum I can help you navigate the early newborn days, help get your needs met by helping you connect to specific resources, and help process your birth. This is a great option for anyone who doesn’t live in Upstate, South Carolina, or is looking to have one less person in their birthing space.

For those with specific questions or in need of guidance concerning their birth journey. We can work together as I act as a sounding board and information source to explore topics such as: finding the right care provider for your specific situation, navigating family pressure to birth in a certain way, exploring information about specific complications and interventions, learning your rights and advocating for yourself to your care providers, processing prior birth experiences, current emotions, future unknowns, and so much more.

Understanding that pregnancy is not a journey with a single destination is essential to my work. If you find yourself in need of support for ending a pregnancy, for any reason, please reach out and I will do my best to be a safe place to process emotions, explore options, and provide physical support.
About Wendy's Birth Work
My top three values are: trust, reproductive justice, and financial accessibility.
From holding space to problem solving, sharing local/virtual resources to providing comfort measures, I have a background in both physiological and medicated births, home and hospital births, first time and seasoned parents, VBAC, HBAC, surgical births, birth trauma support and advocacy, perinatal bodywork and movement, LGBTQ births, postpartum support, and perinatal mood disorders. I have over 9 years of birth work experience including attendance at over 70 births. I have worked as an independent doula, a home birth midwife's assistant, a prenatal class instructor, a perinatal bodyworker (LMT), and a student/volunteer organization based doula.
I meet clients where they are and help them identify their values, explore their options, and work toward manifesting their goals. I believe strongly in autonomy and I trust my clients to ask for the support they need, and to make the decisions that are correct for them. I provide non-judgmental and well-informed emotional, educational, and physical support that is tailored specifically to you and your journey.
I was originally trained through DONA and maintain a current certification with The Matrona. My work is informed by insatiable consumption of books and podcasts about birth and my participation in a rich list of local and national trainings. I’m happy to provide a list of these trainings, and client testimonials upon request.
